Tonight, Peanut popped the big question: "Mommy, is the Gentleman your boyfriend?"
I always knew that kid was too smart for his own good.
Up until now, I thought Peanut believed the Gentleman and I were just friends. We have been spending some more time with the Gentleman but never showed affection towards one another. Needless to say, I was honestly a bit surprised when Peanut brought it up. I asked Peanut what he thought a boyfriend is...his response was "a boy that's your friend that you kiss and marry."
Wow, that kid is smart.
I wasn't sure how to answer Peanut so I just asked him if he would like the Gentleman to be my boyfriend. He answered "yes" with a huge smile on his face. I told Peanut I'd think about it and decide.
While I'm busy deciding....share your story as to how you explained to your children that you were dating after the divorce.
My little guy is 3 & I never did explain to him that I was dating again.. I introduced him to Boyfriend after 4 months of dating (and I also met his son then). Last night, my babe said "Momma, I love Jesus and You and (my, obviously) Boyfriend". Melted my heart. We have been dating for 6-7 months at this point.
ReplyDeleteAnd let me do a silly overexcitied thing & say that I am
SO glad to have found this blog!! I feel like I can relate so well & I've only read 3 posts so far! :) I'm one of two girls in my circle of friends that is divorced & the only one with a child. It's nice to read someone else's journey & truly relate!
